The previous day still lingers in our bones. So we only get up around 9 AM. The usual morning routine begins. By 11 AM we are on the road. It will be the hottest day of our trip so far. Around 1:30 PM we measure 42°C. Fortunately, the car has a strong air conditioner. We head to the Valley of Fire State Park. We are once again dealing with sandstone. The amazing colors of the sediment and the incredible weathering shapes continue to impress us. We drive through the park, and due to the heat, only small walks are possible. The Visitor Center informs us that this area was already settled about 4000 years ago. The rock paintings date back to that time. Then we head back to Utah, losing another hour. Our hotel in St. George is okay. Dinner is at an Italian restaurant.
