Today was a relaxing day. After breakfast, I rested and dried the tent. Then I moved the tent a few meters further. I initially stood under a tree, but something sticky dripped onto the tent, which attracted ants, so my tent sometimes looked like an anthill 😅
Around noon, I hiked to the mud volcanoes, well, walked. It was only a relatively short walk of about 15-20 minutes.
Up the mountain through green meadows. Suddenly, the landscape changed from green to a desert-like color.
Deep furrows traversed the landscape, and there were bubbling holes in the ground everywhere.
The mud volcanoes were reached. Here, groundwater, sediments, and gases rise from a depth of about 3000 meters to the surface. The special thing is that it is not hot mass, but cold. There were sometimes real chimneys.
Since a thunderstorm was approaching, I started heading back. When the ground gets really wet up here, you can only get away reasonably clean if you wear rubber boots.
As soon as I reached the valley, it started pouring. This repeated every hour. It is now 10:00 PM, and thunderstorm number 5 is moving through. But according to the rain radar, it will probably be the last one.
I would have liked to visit another volcanic field. But as I mentioned before, it doesn't make sense in this weather.
Tomorrow we will continue towards the Danube Delta. Let's see what awaits me there.
