Von Weihnachtsbäumen und lieben Menschen

After several months of rough planning, weeks of preparations, and the last three days in Germany, which we spent almost continuously packing our backpacks and, above all, preparing our apartment for our subtenant, we finally started our three-month journey on the evening of December 28th. On the eve of our departure, we had invited friends and family to a farewell evening at our place. Initially, we were not sure if we would have time and peace for this action - in retrospect, it was exactly the right thing to do, to fuel the anticipation together and to spend time with many of our dearest people once again. Thank you for the beautiful and warm farewell that you gave us!

Our flight to Florida initially took us to Amsterdam. Here, we noticed the beautiful and numerous Christmas decorations above all. A little bit of nostalgia came up again because I (Tabea) always associate Christmas with family and being "at home". But that was quickly forgotten when we finally left European soil with a lot of joy, knowing that the next few weeks would bring us a lot.

Arriving in Florida, we were greeted once again by familiar faces with open arms. We are joining the family vacation of friends and starting with a relaxed holiday in the pleasant warmth of the Sunshine State. And here too, the image from Amsterdam continued: (often kitschy) Christmas decorations as far as the eye can see. During our visit to the beach today, however, we were also able to enjoy a rare specimen of a maritime Christmas tree - accompanied by an American flag.
