Aurora de Palmar (Entre Rios) (Dec 5-8) Day 1 Horseback Riding

A bɔra kɛnɛ kan: 09.12.2020

Hello dear friends,

We spent the weekend in El Palmar in the province of Entre Rios, about 4 hours drive from Buenos Aires. We stayed three nights in a lodge. On the first day, we went horseback riding (cabalgata), on the second day, we had a safari tour, and on the third day, we visited Parque Nacional El Palmar and went canoeing.

The road there was quite interesting. We saw our first gaucho on a horse by the roadside, and everywhere you look, there are these huts in danger of falling apart, selling fish, meat, or fishing gear. And all of this is right by the highway. Every now and then, you come across chickens, dogs, or people crossing the road. Cycling on the highway seems to be popular, and sometimes a motorcycle comes towards you on the shoulder because people just don't want to take a detour... Abandoned cars are also often just parked everywhere...

Our route also took us 120m above the Rio Parana. The pillars of the bridge are anchored 70m deep into the ground, and because a flood zone has to be crossed, the road takes a total of 150 km before it gets solid ground again...

The first day in our accommodation was already great, as we could all do an activity together for the first time. Everyone on horses, including Lea, and it was no problem at all... We passed cows, bulls, beautiful birds, and other horses, and many palms and through a eucalyptus forest... always accompanied by a gaucho who watched over everything.

You can rent a railway carriage here or sleep in the casona (a house). Since the wagons were already fully booked, we had a room in the casona...

Jaabi
