A new day begins. For me a few minutes later than for Andi, because he is already awake earlier. He also had a bit more trouble with the air conditioning - when we checked in we could have chilled a beer right away. In the middle of the night, however, rather lukewarm cervisia served. Somehow, I was pretty tired and didn't notice much...
Today, we have the first exploration of Toronto on our plan with two highlights: On the one hand, we want to go up the 553m CN Tower, on the other hand, see the Toronto baseball game in the home Rogers Arena. Well then, let's go.
With little luggage, we march from our hostel (blue dot on College St) towards the center and then get to know some neighborhoods, including Chinatown (red), the Financial District (orange), Oldtown (brown), or Downtown (yellow). As expected, each part has its peculiarities. In Chinatown, the best noodle soup in Toronto can be bought every 5 meters, while in the financial district, mostly suited men wander between the huge glass towers. The old town is very charming and is characterized by its red sandstone buildings.
When we arrive at the CN Tower at around 12 o'clock, we are of course not alone. Numerous tourists also want to go up. We secure a time slot so that we don't have to wait in line for 2 hours. In the meantime, we can have something to eat, play a short round of Jass (Andi draws the acorn 9 as trump card 4 times), and also get our tickets for the game with kick-off at 7:07 in the evening. So, the time management works out. At 2 o'clock, we finally go up in the elevator and up to the airy height of 346m. See for yourself...
One hour later, we are back down and make our way to the harbor area, which is extremely well-kept and populated. We treat ourselves to a break with a hop drink from Toronto and nachos :)
Approximately 1 hour before the start of the game, we are in the arena and look forward to the game. There is no shortage of food, drinks, and merchandise stands. Unfortunately, the performance of the 'Toronto Blue Jays', as they are called, is lacking a bit. Well, the cheer 'Let's go Blue Jays (clap, clap, clap-clap-clap-clap)' is not really inspiring either. In the end, after the 9 innings and 3 hours of play, it's 5:0 for Minnesota. Nevertheless, it was a cool experience. Ps. Baseball is not exactly a high-performance sport, but a way to stretch your legs under the supervision of 10,000 spectators ;)
