We stay 2 nights at the campsite 'Barcelona' near Mataro to make a trip to the real Barcelona from there. So at 9.15 am our shuttle goes to the city of contrasts.
We are already impressed when we drive through. Passing by the Sagrada Familia and the PG. De Gracia, we finally get off at the central Placa Catalunya. It is already bustling with activity at 10 am. We don't have much time, as we will already return at noon to keep Berno's sensory overload as low as possible. So we stroll around Pl. Catalunya to the impressive Barri Gotic and through the shopping district with many lovely boutiques and cafes around the market square. The architecture is unique, varied, contrasting and yet matching. And amid all the hustle and bustle, there are pigeons upon pigeons adorning (or rather soiling) the monuments :-)
Nevertheless, it is magnificent and I could spend several days taking a closer look at everything. But we don't have that much time today. The city is definitely worth another visit.
In the afternoon, we spent time at the campsite and relaxed in the sun, cooked French food with Courdon Bleu once again - so in the truest sense, the France stage is 'eaten' for now. Tomorrow we will continue south.
