Tag 41: Whitsunday Island

Tag 41 means halfway through our journey, and we couldn't spend this day with a better highlight.

In the early morning, we wake up in a bay between Whitsunday and Hook Island. A beautiful view.

Our crew plans the day optimally according to wind, weather, tides, and currents. So on the first day, we head directly to the dreamy beach of Tongue Bay and the postcard motif from the Hill Inlet viewpoint. The radiant white beach consists of the finest quartz sand. It is so fine that even cameras must be well-packed. I have never walked on such soft sand that is not even hot.

We should always go into the water with our wetsuits, which protect us from poisonous jellyfish. The water itself is nicely sloping and we swim next to two rays. A truly heavenly beach.

Before our ship stays during low tide, we continue to Whitehaven Beach. Here, for the first time, we can swing into the water like pirates with the rope from the bow of the Solway Lass. Arrrr ☠⛵

We stay overnight in the bay and enjoy the sunset with a cold beer and cider from the roof. Wonderful!
