Finding Nemo

Yesterday, we made the most of the day. Wide awake at 7... breakfast and then off to the city. The weather was supposed to be amazing. And hallelujah... the weather was amazing (except for some short rain showers. But hey, we're in the rainforest). That day, the Cairns Ironman also took place. 5km swimming, 180km cycling, and 42km running. In tropical weather. We were already sweating like crazy just watching. But the feeling quickly caught on. Huge groups were celebrating and drumming for their participants right along the course. Everyone was clapping for everyone. During our beach walk, we even got our first sunburn. Right at the beach, there's also a huge pool to cool off. Unfortunately, you can't go in the ocean there -> crocs 🐊 of course, we also took the opportunity to check out the beach volleyball courts. Unfortunately, this time we didn't find any other players. Well... at least we got some training in at the net. Until the continuous rain started again 😁 too lazy to cook, we ordered something from Uber Eats.

Today, we went snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef. I prepared with some good stuff for seasickness, Basti missed out on that. And so he spent most of the time calling for Ulf. By now, he has color in his face again. He still didn't miss the snorkeling trip. And it was definitely worth it. We saw Nemo and his dad in an anemone!! It's really hard to find the right words to describe the reef. Tens of thousands of fish, the most diverse corals... beautiful. Unfortunately, I couldn't capture any of it with my phone. The torture on the boat really paid off 🐠🐟
