Off to the desert!

In March, there is a week of vacation here in Namibia. We used this time to explore the south of Namibia, where we had not been before. We were a huge group, as many friends from Germany also came to visit and we all drove around together. We went from Keetmanshoop to Luderitz and spent a few days by the sea, went swimming, visited a former diamond town...

After that, we continued to a farm. There we enjoyed ourselves for two days, ate delicious food, drove around a bit, and so on :-) Then the week was unfortunately already over and we went back to Windhoek.

In Keetmanshoop, we set off early in the morning, we wanted to be in the Quiver Tree Forest for sunrise. Quiver trees are a special type of tree that the indigenous people used to make quivers for their arrows. It was really impressive when the sun slowly appeared above the horizon and bathed everything in beautiful light.

Afterwards, we went to the adjacent 'giant playground.' The rocks are mostly stacked on top of each other as if giants had placed them that way.

Then we continued towards Luderitz. In the evening, we went out for a nice meal and the next day went straight to the ghost town. The houses there have been abandoned for about 60 years now, and the desert is reclaiming them bit by bit. It looks really cool, the houses are collapsing, there is sand everywhere...

After spending another day exploring Luderitz, which sometimes really reminds me of a small old German town, swimming and relaxing, we continued to a farm. We also had a great time there. I went hunting with the owner and we took care of the animals. In the evenings, we made bread and just sat together and enjoyed the incredibly beautiful starry sky.
