Medellin

Medellin was once the most dangerous city in South America and has developed strongly in a positive way in recent years. Medellin has the only metro in Colombia, of which they are incredibly proud. It is clear that nothing is eaten or drunk inside and above all, nothing is destroyed. The Paisas (residents of Medellin) are very proud people.

One day we visited Comuna 13. And this rap was created to match this Comuna:

We've put everything on one card,
strolling around and getting terribly rushed,
up and down stairs, even automatically,
in the middle of the ghetto neighborhood - somehow sympathetic.
Comuna 13 is a small part of Medellin,
it was influenced by gangs, violence, death and cocaine,
until the year 2002, then the military and the police arrived.
They shot at everything, in the middle of the night, a lot of blood was shed, a huge battle ...
Comuna 13 slowly woke up to life afterwards,
Everything is colorful, a huge splendor:
graffiti artists, hip-hop and a common idea,
it gave them a future!

From Medellin we also took a day trip to Guatape. Guatape is a beautiful town with many colorful houses. Up above, you can climb the Piedra del Peñol. A rock that can be accessed by stairs. After 650 steps, you have a beautiful view of the reservoir.
