Auckland the 4th.

This day also begins with a beautiful sunrise, I can still enjoy breakfast outside in the sun, but then the first showers come. First, I go to Tony in the workshop, we wanted to discuss today when and how the water pump can be replaced. He has no way to order the pump except from Mercedes, so now I have to make sure that Martin gets it for me and can send it relatively soon. We agree on an appointment for Tuesday morning, let's see if it works out that short term. So I will stay in Auckland for another 6 days, I don't want to make any more big tours with the car.

As a joke, I drive by Mercedes again and ask here... 1 week waiting time for an inspection appointment, spare parts come from Germany (oh) and take 2 weeks... Well, thank you, I'll stick with Tony...

Next stop is Devonport, a small town across from Auckland. From here you can take the ferry to the city, but also visit smaller islands. Here, 1350 one of the first 7 boats of the first Maori settlers reached New Zealand.

I hike up to the former defense fortress, here you have a nice view of Rangitoto, with 600 years the youngest volcano in Auckland. Tomorrow morning I will take the ferry over and hike across the island.

Back at the campsite, I console myself with some fresh strawberries (ha..) and plan the tour to the northern tip of the island... at some point the water pump has to be replaced..
