San Pedro de Atacama

The third day of our tour was very short. We visited two more lagoons and got closer to the Chilean border! The landscape here in the Eduardo Avaroa National Park looks like another planet!

Snow-covered mountains with vast desert-like high plateaus, with a lagoon in between.

We also made acquaintance with very friendly foxes, Pecuñas and black-headed seagulls.

After bidding farewell to our tour crew, we were then taken to San Pedro de Atacama by shuttle bus across the border.

After a very nice welcome at the hotel, we finally enjoyed a hot shower and a comfortable bed after a few days!

In the evening, we took part in an astronomical tour. Our tour guide, a Canadian with a good sense of humor, told us very interesting things about our stars! After that, we were allowed to observe Jupiter, Saturn, and Alpha Centauri through 12 telescopes. Finally, they served us a hot chocolate and we were able to hold a piece of meteorite (Russia around 1940) in our hands.

It was a successful and funny evening!
