Quito - Galapagos

On the second day, we took a closer look at the old town. We visited the cultural center of Quito and the National Bank with an extensive coin exhibition.

Afterwards, we continued to Calle la Ronda - a street with many small shops/restaurants.

Finally, we enjoyed a romantic dinner at the hostel.

At 6 o'clock in the morning, we took a taxi back to the airport. The taxi ride was another adventure. As soon as the speedometer exceeded 90 km/h, a shrill sound rang out, which the taxi driver ignored. About 20 km before reaching the airport, the front right tire burst - no wonder with such road conditions. After a 15-minute tire change, the journey continued.

After check-in, we took off towards Galapagos. The three-hour flight - with a stopover in Guayaquil - went smoothly. Leaving dirty Quito and entering the paradise of Galapagos!

After the immigration formalities, we were taken to the small port town of Puerto Ayora by bus and boat. After checking in at the hostel, we headed straight for the harbor promenade!

We immediately made acquaintances with crabs, iguanas, pelicans, and many little sparrows. The diversity of species and vegetation here on Santa Cruz is simply overwhelming!

We ended the day with an early dinner and a walk through the 'town'.

Good night :)
