After a long and interesting train journey, we arrived in Hospet. After asking around, we found our correct place but unfortunately had to share the compartment with some rude Indians. During the train journey, vendors walk through shouting mostly in Indian and selling coffee, lunch, snacks or drinks. Luckily, we were able to orient ourselves a bit and finally got off at the right station. At the train station, we met a nice rickshaw driver. We threw our backpacks on the roof and headed to Hampi.
On our drive, he told us a lot and I already like this region. We also got into a traffic control where our driver unfortunately got fined. Soon we reach our guesthouse. Before checking in, we arrange with him for a tour of the sights tomorrow.
There was a small mistake with our accommodation and instead of a basic room, we get the deluxe room with a temple view. We store our backpacks and want to explore the surroundings a bit more. The exploration takes a bit longer as the walls, temples, and ruins are simply unique.
We are picked up early in the morning and visit numerous beautiful buildings and historical landscapes. After a small lunch break, we visit the remaining highlights of the area. We also take part in a ceremony and get an insight into the religion. In the end, we wanted to watch the sunset from a fantastic viewpoint but unfortunately, the clouds spoiled our plans. Regardless, it was a wonderful albeit exhausting day. Thanks to our driver, we learned a lot about the history of Hampi's past and present.
