Today we want to provide you with some treats from our young farmer's life:
We have a total of 32 crazy chickens and three lovely donkey boys under our wings in Waitata Bay. Sometimes a little mishap happens, especially if you have no experience working with animals.
So it happens faster than you think that a crazy chicken escapes from the stable during feeding and you have to chase after it to catch it again. After 10 failed attempts to catch it, you give up with weeds in your hair and stabbed by thistles, hoping that no one has seen this mishap. But the attentive three gentlemen, Guiseppe, Texas and Mocca, don't miss any misfortune. They line up at the fence and watch the spectacle with a mocking neigh. If you happen to achieve the unthinkable - namely catching the chicken again - suddenly nobody has seen it ;)
We also laughed at ourselves, for example when Martin slipped on a slippery bridge with rubber boots and a wheelbarrow full of donkey pooh and chicken manure. Or when our homemade bread without yeast looked more like a rock than a crispy baguette (according to Etienne, our French coworker). Or when Catrina asked us to trim the tall grass under the solar panels, but forgot to warn us about the green cables... Well, the sun didn't shine that day anyway ;)
So you see that not everything goes without incidents, but these and a suddenly appearing naked Italian host (+120 kg; note: name and photo known to the editorial staff) sweeten everyday life in Waitata Bay!
