Day 9: Garibaldi Lake

Hello there,

Today I had the longest, but also the most beautiful hike so far. I found a great hiking group again on Facebook. And guess what, almost everyone was from Germany... I always thought this was mainly the case in Australia, but here in Vancouver it feels like half of Germany is here. A bit of internationality was added by an Austrian girl in the group :-D

We all got along right from the start and then went by car to Garibaldi Lake. When we arrived there at 11 o'clock, there were already several cars. Now we had a 9km uphill hike ahead of us, which mainly went through the forest. It was sometimes exhausting, but doable. We all made it up to the lake and the view quickly made us forget the effort. Depending on the angle, the lake shimmered in a light turquoise color and the mountains reflected on the water surface. It was an incredible panorama :-) I could have sat there for hours just enjoying the view. The water was so clear and there was already some snow on the mountains in the background. I haven't seen such a beautiful lake in a long time (so a small travel tip for those who will come to Canada someday).

Because we wanted to be back at the car before dusk, we had to start again soon. Another 9km, but luckily downhill this time. After a total of 7 hours, we arrived back at the parking lot just in time for sunset. The drive back was already in the dark, but it gave us a feeling of a small, beautiful road trip :-)

When we arrived back in Vancouver, we had dinner at a chicken restaurant/snack bar. But we were all so tired from the hike that we went straight back to the hostel/apartment and fell into bed...
