In the last few days, we have spent a lot of time treating the horses. Here in Spain, this is mainly done in the manga, see enclosure/stand in the photos... For the flight animal horse, it is difficult to go into such a tight thing. It's like when a person with claustrophobia is locked in a small space...
Since many of the young mares and stallions, as well as the older breeding mares that live in the pastures, cannot be touched and do not know halters or anything else with us humans, we are forced to do it this way considering the injuries. We try to stress the horses as little as possible. It is particularly difficult for the horses - as they go forward/flee from their flight instinct - to go backwards out of the manga. Here we have to be particularly careful that they do not instinctively shoot forward and in the worst case, jump onto the horse in front.
Since most of the treatments are going well, we hope that we can soon invest more time in the basic work with the horses. Now we have a list with the transport dates of the horses for sale, so we can work more targeted with these horses. Our work attitude is probably still too Swiss. We found it strange to work with about 25 young horses without knowing when which horse should be able to do what and know. We have adapted to the Spanish mentality and started somewhere. By the way, the photos are commented :)
Our cat Mia is currently living with us in the caravan again most of the time. We are very happy that she has now arrived as well.
Today we had a day off. Since we only have one day off per week, we usually go to the dump, fill up water, do a big shopping, spend more time with our horses, do the hoofs, and so on... and then it's evening already. We are not bored. On the contrary: Nick and I should both study. Nick has exams coming up soon.
