Nick had his birthday. After breakfast, we received a message that we should all come up to the stable aisle. Someone had baked a cake, which we went to eat. Then it was back to work as usual.
Nick practiced the "wet spraying" with a sensitive mare. He introduced another mare to the trailer. It was exciting because at the beginning, she wouldn't even think about putting her hoof on the ramp. Instead, going around and across a ton, that was no problem. Sometimes, horses have certain things they say "no" to when it comes to new things, but if you approach it differently, it's okay. For example, brushing the leg only works if you lift it. Or putting on a halter only works if you first scratch the tail and work your way forward. If you come from the front, the horse will be gone. So each of the horses, like us, has its own peculiarities. I did some exercises with one of the mares using a neck rope - first time free (with a neck rope).
At noon, we had a summer salad and a Tiramisu. It was very hot! In the evening, we went out for pizza with a few people who work here at the stud farm. The colleague who had the riding accident also came. We haven't seen her since the accident. She is back home now and will be out for at least the next three months: 2nd cervical vertebra broken, 3 ribs and 3 thoracic vertebrae broken, torn meniscus, and various bruises. She is in a lot of pain and relies on help from her boyfriend for showering, going to the bathroom at night, turning in bed, etc. But we are glad that her nerves are intact, it could have gone differently.
