It was an unusual feeling for me when I asked my son on the phone which train I should take to come to him. He replied, 'Mom, I'll pick you up from the airport and then we'll take the train together to my house.' That was the first time he picked me up and not the other way around. Somehow touching.
When we arrived at the house of his host parents, they were not at home but at a Christmas party. (I forgot: summer, but Christmas!!). So we had the whole evening to ourselves, which was very nice after the 10 months we had not seen each other.
In the last few days, we did a lot together. All of us, that is the host parents, another French exchange student, my son, and me.
We went swimming at the beach in hot weather and to a nearby lake for SUP. The next day we took a trip to Sydney, which is about 1.5 hours away. And finally, we spent a night camping on the beach.
Time flies here, but that's how it should be on vacation.
Oh, and my son also likes it here very much: he has decided not to fly home with me tomorrow. Instead, he will stay here for another 5 weeks...
