Tuesday, 22.8.2023, Day 36
Today starts our 6th week. We woke up early and got ready for a short distance from Brenes to Sevilla. We are on the home stretch, today is Tuesday, by Friday evening we will already be in Huelva and on Saturday on the ferry to Lanzarote. Today's route had a profile that we didn't have a single time in the last 35 days, scary 😂 (see photo). But the climate is truly scary ‼️ we sprinted and only took 1 coffee break on the way and were already in Sevilla at 10:30, when Sevilla already had 34°. With reaching Sevilla, we also reached the Rio Guadalquivir again, which I mentioned a few days ago and which has accompanied us since Córdoba. Then, as a first thing, we left our luggage at the new accommodation (in a very beautiful old building) and walked to the old town, where we live on the edge. We explored the old town and visited some shops. Here and there, we stopped, sometimes for a drink, sometimes for ice cream, sometimes to use the restroom. Then we visited the Cathedral (Catedral de Sevilla, Santa María de la Sede, the bishop's church of the Archdiocese of Seville, the largest Gothic church in Spain and one of the largest churches in the world, built from 1401 to 1519) and then the Royal Alcazar, which has been standing since the Middle Ages and is still used by the royal family when they visit Seville.
