Whitianga Teil 2

Saturday, 31 December:

On Saturday, we didn't do much. Lisa took me to her friends, where we picked up her bike for me to use to commute to work for the next few days. We spent the afternoon on her balcony in the sun playing board games. In the evening, we watched the fireworks from her swing.

Sunday, 01 January 2017:

In the evening, I went to work. My colleagues, Maddie, Simon, David, Luke, Sarah, and Josh, are all super nice and it's really fun to work there and prepare the pizza dough. I only worked for 3 hours as it wasn't busy and then made my way back, stopping at the beach to watch the sunset.

Monday, 02 January 2017:

In the morning, I helped Lisa in the garden. We weeded and changed the path to her front door.

At around 5pm, I rode my bike back to work - it takes me 16 minutes to get there (as it's downhill) and 40 minutes to get back because the hill is so steep that I have to push the bike at times 😂

Tuesday, 03 January:

At 9:30am, I met up with a friend of Lisa's at the harbor. He owns a sailboat from 1928 and he was going to take me out for the next 6 hours. Unfortunately, it was still raining, so we set sail an hour later when the sky cleared up, and half an hour later, the sun came out. We sailed to a small bay with a beautiful beach and had lunch there.

Back in Whitianga, I quickly went to the pizzeria and worked for a few more hours.

Wednesday, 04 January:

On Wednesday, we celebrated the 'grandpa' who we spent Christmas with his 80th birthday. We went with the family to a winery at Cooks Beach and had pizza.

It was a beautiful morning and the view was breathtaking. I had a long conversation with a Dutch elderly lady.

In the afternoon, I bought 2 new jumpsuits and threw away a pair of shorts (unfortunately, I spilled tomato sauce on them and couldn't get it out 😂)

Thursday, 05 January 2017:

We slept in and went to a beach further out, snorkeled for half the morning, and lounged in the sun. On the way back, we stopped at Otama Beach (absolute favorite!)

Friday, 06 January:

Did nothing 👌😄

Saturday, 07 January:

We went to Matarangi - also here, beautiful white sand - only 25 people live in Matarangi all year round, and in the summer, all the 'Aucklanders' come here to spend their vacation in holiday homes on the beach, very strange.

In the afternoon, we had dinner at a golf club and I worked in the evening.

Sunday: Otama Beach, worked in the evening.

Monday, 09 January:

Today, I packed up my things and got everything ready - tomorrow I'm going to the airport, and then to Christchurch (down to the South Island of New Zealand).

I'm meeting up with Fritz again on Wednesday - we'll also be traveling around the South Island together.
