After a hearty breakfast, our last stage takes us northeast from Lübeck towards Scharbeutz on the Baltic Sea. Today's stage is planned for 97 km to Fehmarn for me. Christian's destination for the day is Kiel, about 80 km away.
About an hour after leaving Lübeck, we reach Haffkrug and enjoy one last coffee and cake. Unfortunately, we weren't able to have the strawberry cake, even though we tried again and again.
Then Christian and I go our separate ways. Christian has another 60 km with strong headwind to Kiel, while I head northeast with a strong tailwind.
The Baltic Sea Cycle Route is a great ride and I make good progress until Großenbrode, the last place on the mainland. After some shopping, I unfortunately forget one of my two bungee cords for the backpack at EDEKA. But I only realize that at the destination.
Then it's on to the Fehmarn Sound Bridge. Cyclists are instructed by signs to push their bikes across the sound. And it really is justified! It's quite windy on the bridge! For safety, I hold onto the front and the rear of the bike.
I reach Steffi's apartment in Burg around 5 p.m.
