Wanaka

A bɔra kɛnɛ kan: 15.05.2024

Kia Ora Together,

After my strenuous hike, after a long breakfast with Fridolin-Christopher, I continued towards the west coast, stopping in Wanaka. Before I went there, however, I stopped at Repcos and got myself an ice scraper. Funny side fact: there is no antifreeze for windshields in New Zealand. That means scraping properly every time and hoping that the whole thing doesn't freeze too much. How impractical! During my stopover, I also discovered a small French bakery and treated myself to a super delicious almond croissant.

View along the way.

In Wanaka, I first checked in at the campsite and then explored the town on foot and strolled along the lake. When I say strolled, I mean strolled, because my body was still pretty worn out and I just couldn't go any faster than strolling! :D

I looked at the famous water tree, enjoyed my croissant with a view of the water and, as usual, treated myself to a delicious ice cream in town. In short, it was just a chilled day by the lake in the sunshine.

While I was enjoying my time at the lake, I checked out the local attractions and decided to tick another item off my bucket list and booked a sky dive at 15,000 feet for the next day.

Apart from that, not much happened and so I can't tell you more about it. The town itself is small but very cute and clearly geared towards winter and summer tourism, as there are lots of shops and restaurants. But there's not really much else to do or discover here.

More about my sky dive in the next post.
