Tag 45: Fitzgerald River National Park (Hamersley Inlet) - Kundip

A bɔra kɛnɛ kan: 29.10.2018

Unfortunately, the weather did not improve overnight. It's cloudy and drizzling. The temperature is only 17 degrees, but there is no wind, so it doesn't feel as cold.

We have breakfast at the campsite and then drive down to the parking lot. There is not much going on. Just one car and us.

Today, for the first time, we unpack our rain gear. The kids have fun with their mud pants and rain ponchos. We walk the hiking trail from Hamersley Inlet to the sea. On the way, we meet a group of three. A woman is very enthusiastic about our children's rain outfits and we start talking. It's a small world. She is from Vöcklabruck and has been living in Australia for many years. Her daughter lives in Aurach am Hongar and next year she wants to go hiking in Upper Austria with her friends. When we reach the sea, we continue walking west. The coast is characterized by rugged cliffs. There are endless shells and sand dunes to slide down. Despite the lousy weather, we enjoy the hike and time flies by quickly. We are on the trail for a total of about 4 hours and cover about 5 kilometers. Today, Samuel and Maxima didn't enjoy walking much and we had to carry them frequently and for a long time.

Since it's not too late yet, we change our plan and leave Fitzgerald River National Park today. We drive a little further so that we have a shorter distance to cover tomorrow. On the way out, we stop at some lookout points in the national park. About 15 kilometers before Ravensthorpe is the Kundip rest area where we set up our camp for the night. There is a caravan there besides us. We grill tuna fillets, with pasta for the kids and salad for us. Then everyone will go to bed soon.
