The next morning the exertion from the day before was still in my bones (I'm not the youngest anymore) but it was no use, I had a lot to do. We took the shuttle bus into the city again at 9 a.m. I had booked a tour of the Sagrada Familia at 10:45 a.m. I took the metro there again, took the stairs outside and what can I say. There she stands in front of me in all her glory and illuminated by the sun. Phew, what a sight. Since I was a little early (German punctuality) I had to wait 30 minutes and I used the time to take a few (many) photos.
Then we finally went inside or in front of the church. You could have the story told to you via an app. Of course I listened to it and then I went in. That was sooooooooo awesome, the light displays were amazing. I have never seen such a beautiful church. I definitely had to share this with Cindy. So I did a video call and basically showed her everything. I think she was as excited as I was. What I liked about the church was that it finally didn't have gold-decorated statues here, something made of gold there, but it was completely different and everything had a meaning (according to the story from the app). After staying there for about an hour, I walked around the church to take another look at the outside. Then I sat down in the café across the street to take in everything. I needed some refreshment before I drove to the next highlight. My plan was to take the hop on bus for a bit (you should cultivate your hobby) since I had bought a special ticket for 2 days. What can I say, I left the ticket in the motorhome (I'm stupid).
So I got back on the metro and went to Camp Nou. I had also booked a ticket for the new museum there in advance.
For me, as a football fan, the Camp Nou is THE stadium in the world. I found it all the worse to see it being torn down piece by piece. Then I'll probably have to stop by the game in 2026.
The visit to the museum was very nice. Seeing, reading, hearing history everywhere, and of course learning a lot about Messi but also about Johan Cruyff. Seeing all the trophies (won a few more than HSV🤪) I didn't know that even Diego Maradonna played there. The absolute highlight was walking through the “original players’ tunnel” into a 360 degree room and you had the feeling you were in the stadium and were witnessing the victories. This lasted about 5 minutes and I watched it 3 times. Afterwards I was in such a Barcelona frenzy and almost bought a lot in the fan shop.
Conclusion about Barcelona: very, very beautiful city with a lot of sights. I definitely have to go there again. My backpack was somehow open twice at once but apart from a water bottle, selfie stick and book I had nothing else in it. I always have my cell phone and wallet in my pockets. Still, it was a strange feeling.
I spontaneously changed my route and I'm driving on to Provence on Thursday and then leaving Spain 🥲.
