Gibraltar- between monkeys and dolphins

A bɔra kɛnɛ kan: 18.08.2023

On Wednesday morning, we set off very early (the alarm was set for 7 o'clock) to Gibraltar. Cindy had found a nice spot in La Linea de la Concecion, at the marina, with a direct view of the rock.

After we arrived, we briefly discussed what we wanted to see! Of course, we wanted to go up to the rock and take a look at Africa and see the free-roaming monkeys. And we also wanted to go on a boat tour to see dolphins.

On the internet, you could book a combination ticket and you had to pick up the tickets at the organizer's office on site.

Just getting there was already a little adventure. First through customs, once in Spain, once in England, and then we walked across the airport. Next to us, on the left and right, were the runways, and we were right in the middle of it all! It was somehow totally crazy.

On the way to the ticket office, we briefly went through the World Trade Center and saw the football stadium. The disillusionment came when we spoke to the boss. To get to the cable car 🚠, countless steps have to be climbed, and we can't take Cindy's car either. But Steffi really wanted to go up to the rock, and so did the girls! So we decided, the three of us will go up, and Cindy will go for ice cream and shopping.

After walking for 30 minutes through the city to the cable car, the next disillusionment came. It was so crowded, we would have had to wait for at least 1.5 to 2 hours, and then we would have missed the boat tour! So we decided to give up and meet Cindy in the city for shopping, and above all, we were all very hungry.

At 5:30 p.m., we went to the boat, and we were all very skeptical about whether we could really see dolphins & co., if not, then we would just have a nice boat tour, that was our motto!

What can I say, we drove for about 20 minutes and there were dolphins all around us! It was as if they were waiting for us to deliver their show! Left, right, in front of us, everywhere you looked, these animals were jumping over the water! The best part is, they all live in the wild, they're not chipped, and they are not fed either! After 1.5 hours, we were back on land, and everyone was happy, and we set off to our parking spot! So once again across the airport (until April this year, the cars also drove like this. There is now a tunnel), unfortunately, no airplane came again, we would have liked to see that.

We had a great day, even without the rock and monkeys, but with dolphins.

We also enjoyed the sunset and had a super nice view from bed before falling asleep.
