From Mendoza, we head into the Argentine Andes with a rental car - a top-notch adventure. We noted the stop points of an organized tour - about 3 hours drive until just before the Chilean border.
First, we drive to the huge reservoir Potrerillos. The hot thermal baths feel like a cheap tourist trap, let’s move on!
We've already been driving into the mountains for 2 hours to Uspallata, where there’s a vast green high plateau. Now we continue on, always climbing higher into the high Andes. Magical 🤩
At the top, we visit the Puente del Inca (Inca Bridge). It is a massive natural rock bridge over the river. The rock has been discolored by hot thermal water.
At an altitude of about 3000 m, we then walk away from the road for a while to get a good view of Aconcagua. It is the tallest mountain in all of America at 6961 m. However, we lack the experience and the right fitness for a climb 😊
