Good evening, dear friends,
today we had a relaxed morning at our accommodation, played some billiards, and waited to be picked up for our excursion. We went to a market that was as big as a Kaufland supermarket, and saw some very curious things. Afterwards, we went to a farm where we took part in a Thai cuisine cooking class. On the farm, we could find almost all the ingredients that are known for Thai cuisine. We could see various types of fish, meat, vegetables, and fruits. Herbs in triple quantity, and garlic and onions in even 7 times. It was incredibly interesting to finally know what we were eating.
The class lasted 3 hours and we cooked 4 dishes, mixed a drink, and even got a small dessert. One of the dishes we cooked was Pad Thai, which was declared the national dish during World War II. We also cooked two different soups (Tom Ka Gai/chicken in coconut milk and Tom Yum Kung/spicy and sour soup with shrimp), a curry paste, and the corresponding curry. Everything tasted delicious and even better than in a restaurant. 😉 It was a great class with very nice people and a superb teacher. We had an incredible amount of fun and cooked really good food. It was definitely an experience worth having and highly recommended. We also got a cookbook so that we can cook the dishes at home as well.
We couldn't finish our curry, so we took it with us and will have a delicious lunch or dinner tomorrow. 😁😊
Warm greetings from Chiang Mai, Anton and Sophie 😘
