The first two days after Porto we spent on a super nice rest area with a large grill in the forest, where we were alone all the time. From there we also had a great view of the place and Naomi could go on exploration tours freely all the time. What was very sad: a huge fig tree and the whole ground underneath was full of rotten figs! I found that very sad, because that was the first fig tree I have ever seen. I found only four figs that were still good... incredibly delicious and incomparable to the ones bought...
After or before visiting a big city, we always need some time in nature to recharge our energy ;) So we could continue to Lisbon. There we slept a bit outside on a parking lot that was ruled by dogs and after our solar shower half leaked in the car, we treated ourselves to a few hours in a small thermal bath. We haven't showered as warm and long since we started traveling! We spent the rest of the night on a large parking lot near the port with club music playing at night. We didn't find anything quieter.. Overall, we experienced Lisbon as too chaotic and crowded. Driving in the city is super exhausting and nerve-wracking. We didn't see much either (it wasn't for Naomi in the city and we didn't want to leave her alone in the car for too long) and then we drove to Sintra last night. Much better :-) at least at night. However, this morning the small town with many castles and palaces turned out to be a tourist place. So we fled after a walk and the unsuccessful search for a supposed drinking water source and are now driving further to the Algarve! We have also applied for two jobs (a few hours of work in exchange for room and board) in southern Portugal and are eagerly awaiting a response.
