The day started off pretty bad. The bus ride was absolutely terrible. Laughing at the lack of space turned into complete frustration. I couldn't sleep at all, Katha didn't sleep much better. So my mood was really low and I really didn't feel like doing anything today.
After arriving in Sihanoukville at 6 o'clock instead of the expected time, and being brought to Kampot at 8 o'clock, the fun continued. There wasn't much sleeping in the bus either, because we drove over crazy gravel roads for about one out of three hours, which almost threw us out of our seats (we laughed again). Finally, at 10:30 am, we arrived in Kampot (the expected arrival time was 5:30 am IN KAMPOT). We took a tuktuk to the hostel.
Our hostel is really nice and is right by the river.
But we didn't go straight to our room, instead we looked for something to eat first.
After we had fortified ourselves, we checked into our room, took a kayak from the hostel and went to a secluded beach on the other side of the river.
We were all alone on this beach and just relaxed there for about 3-4 hours. I finally managed to take a power nap despite the heat.
Afterwards, the good mood was back a little bit.
We were able to motivate ourselves to go back into the city. We made dinner there. Since we didn't want to spend 10 dollars per meal, we looked for a cheap restaurant, but we didn't get an English translation. We just pointed to any picture and let ourselves be surprised. It was really tasty, but we still don't know what it was. We think it might have been something like zucchini?!
Then we just briefly walked through the market, looked for a working ATM and took a look at the city.
Afterwards, we went shopping for breakfast tomorrow and shower gel, since we left it somewhere. Back at the hostel, we sat outside and let the evening come to an end in peace.
Let's hope that we are a little more refreshed tomorrow, since we have a bit more planned.
Good night 🌚
