Today, first of all, I would like to send very warm birthday greetings to our youngest cutie. He's already turning 1 today. Sending you hugs.
It was a good opportunity to visit the fortress of Rethymnon, we were already parked in front of it. It was built in the 16th century by the Venetians. From the premises, you have beautiful views of the city and the sea. Currently, there is very little tourism. I was almost alone in the large complex. I was particularly impressed by the Sultan Ibrahim Khan Mosque, built by the Ottomans, who took over the rule after the Venetians. The dome has a beautiful interior decoration. Today, it is no longer used as a mosque, but for certain music events.
Then we drove back through the mountains to the south. Nice route, great views, we stopped more often. Along the way, we realized that Jürgen must also be somewhere around here. He wanted to go to Triopetra, which we also headed towards. He was only briefly on the beach on foot, couldn't find the easy way there, and continued driving. So we missed each other. Tomorrow we will go to where he is, it's our direction anyway. Maybe we will see him for the last time now.
