After four amazing weeks of internship, I had to leave again.
Wanderlust, the urge to travel, restless spirit... call it whatever you want, it all comes down to the fact that for the third time in my sabbatical year, I am visiting my beloved Berlin.
It will be a mix of just hanging out in Berlin, spending time with wonderful friends, and attending a few hours of rescue seminar at Antonplatz in Weißensee.
This week, I'm staying at a hostel in Neukölln.
When I tell people about it, they wrinkle their nose and say, 'Ewww, Neukölln, immigrants, dirt, and high unemployment!'
And I say, 'Yep, that's right! And it's totally awesome!' I'm staying right at the U-Bahnhof Karl-Marx-Straße.
I think it's great. I feel really comfortable there.
Why am I here? I'm trying to finally complete this crazy paramedic seminar. In the end, I'm just a disgusting conformist. I dutifully submitted my internship reports on Monday and wrote a test today, where I had to show that I know what I'm doing using the dummy.
So... I mean resuscitation, I mean resuscitation!!!! ☝️
I think that went at least somewhat well.
What else?
Pub and cinema, of course. But this time, I'm having cake. 'Morlock' serves as a constant reminder for me.
I've seen two movies. In Friedrichshain, 'Cleo', an enchanting Berlin fairytale was playing.
And in Kreuzberg, at 'fsk', I stood at the ticket counter and asked, 'So, what's playing now?'
I was thinking of Till Schweiger or X-Men.
She says, 'Oh, it's great... anti-capitalist and feminist in the style of Brecht's epic theater.'
Yeah, well, I think. I had 10 minutes left, so I went all anti-capitalist and bought a feminist cola and sweets at LIDL across the street, hiding them in my bag, and off to the movies.
'The Melancholy Girl.'
And honestly... hit me hard, call it anti-capitalist and feminist if you want, but I actually liked the movie.
Crazy!
And the days?
We'll see... I regularly pass by the Märchenbrunnen in Friedrichshain... and then there's this new entrance hall on Museum Island, and they serve coffee. 🤔😘
I won't get bored....
Oh yeah... and I will definitely meet some wonderful people.
Yay!
