After some excitement at the gate in Zurich, as the plane was there but the boarding will probably be delayed due to 'technical problems', it eventually started almost on time.
The almost 11-hour flight was mostly calm, although there were a few moments of turbulence. So we arrived in Capetown shortly before 7 am (local time) with little delay. It is a small airport, so passport control was quick, and we headed to the car rental station with our luggage, making a short stop at the local phone provider. By 08:15, we were already sitting in our white KIA and getting familiar with it.
On the way from the airport, it was a bit strange, everyone driving on the wrong side for us, but you get used to it and just go with the flow. Due to a bit of rush hour, we arrived at our accommodation around 09:30. We checked in and contacted the Studer's.
At 11 am, we took an Uber (it was our first time) to Victoria and Albert Waterfront (VA Waterfront) and met up with the Studers there. We spontaneously decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and visit Table Mountain today. After a quick snack, we ordered another Uber, which took us safely, quickly, and reliably to the cableway station of Table Mountain.
What a view from the top, simply spectacular. It was windy on the mountain and we understood why so many locals talk about 'four seasons in one day'. After about an hour, the view of Cape of Good Hope was enveloped in clouds. (it cleared up again in the evening)
