On our way towards Cecina in Tuscany we have planned two more stops so that we can start early in Freiburg. The still wet clothes, shoes, wallets and paper are well distributed in the car so that they can slowly dry on the journey,
The weather is getting better and better with every meter that we move away from Freiburg and our way leads us to Inge in St. Blasien.
The climatic and Kneipp health resort of St. Blasien is located in the southern Black Forest south of theSchluchsee in the Albtal . The municipal area extends from 600 m above sea level. NHN to the 1351 m high Spießhorn , which belongs to the Feldberg massif .
Inge now lives here at the age of almost 90 and is looking forward to visitors from her "old homeland - Ludwigshafen". We enjoy a piece of cake, a cup of coffee and a warm hug and enjoy this great woman who, at 90, is simply refreshingly young at heart.
Unfortunately, our time is short and we have to say goodbye to Inge after 2 hours to get to our next destination in Switzerland. So straight into the car and scurried across the Swiss border ... don't forget the sticker and we'll conquer the beautiful streets of Switzerland and look forward to our next meeting with Claudia in Lucerne.
Sometimes meeting people you've never met in person feels like a familiar feeling, and that's exactly how it feels when we climb the escalators of the multi-storey car park after a city tour of Lucerne (it's not fun to drive here by car). come and meet Claudia in front of the old train station gate.
Lucerne is a city, municipality and capital of the canton of the same name. The city has 82,922 inhabitants, with agglomeration around 223,000. Lucerne is the social and cultural center of Central Switzerland.
We stroll with Claudia along Lake Lucerne and sit down in a small café with a beautiful view over the lake and chat like old friends and time flies. At the next meeting we definitely have to plan more time, we certainly have a lot to tell each other.
Let's go towards the Gotthard tunnel and off to Italy. The journey goes well, hardly any traffic jams in front of the tunnel and after that, apart from a few heavy rain showers, no further time wasters. The border crossing in Chiasso also welcomes us with friendliness and spits us out again on the Italian side without any complication.
Continuing on the rather monotonous motorways of Italy, we decide to stop for the night shortly after Milano, since the routes we drove were quite exhausting.
Checked # booking.com to see what was nearby and we found a room. We chose the #Motel70 about 10 km from our actual route. This gem is really to be recommended and you just shouldn't be fooled by the first sight. http://www.motel70.it/index_start_2.asp When we arrive it is already 10pm and we just want to go to bed. Warmly and with the typical Italian warmth, we are personally welcomed at this time and fall tired and happy into our “bed for one night.
The next morning confirms our decision and we start the remaining 350 km to Cecina refreshed, but not without seeing the wonderful place where we actually spent the night. The Po flows less than 50 m from us and we get a first impression of the great Italian landscapes.
A cappuccino and a "croissant alla vaniglia" later we're already there... Cecina! Hello family, here comes the visit 🤗.
