We are heading to Cromwell, a city located 50 km east of Queenstown, known for its many orchards. We visit various farms to ask for work, unfortunately without success. We are told that the season is already over. We decide to continue traveling and work in Christchurch.
In Queenstown, we check in at a campground in the city. As it turns out, it is a very expensive city, we paid $25 per person for the overnight stay. In the afternoon, we have arranged to have ice cream with Yup, Alessia, and Franzi. We know them from our time in Kerikeri. Together, we stroll through the Queenstown Gardens.
After saying goodbye to the three of them, we accidentally meet the two Israelis and Anna, their German travel companion again. Since Queenstown is known for its bars and parties, we arrange to meet in the evening. And as luck would have it, we also checked in at the same campground. So we can pre-drink together and dive into the nightlife.
The next day, we hike the Queenstown Hill-Lookout Track and then head to Lake Wakatipu. We go deeper into the Fjordland, as we want to walk a section of the Routeburn Track the next day. Well, when we wake up early, it's raining...
