With the Mein Schiff 6 from New York to Jamaica-Nassau Bahamas, a day at Atlantis.

Uñt’ayata: 11.04.2018

As always, we were woken up by the sounds of the ship when we entered the port and we could see Captain Holm steering the Mein Schiff into the port of Nassau from our balcony. For this, he performed a half-turn with the ship in front of the harbor and was able to park backwards. What I can never do with our Mokka, Captain Holm managed with the Mein Schiff 6 without any problems. We had booked the excursion "A Day at Atlantis with Aquarium" through Tut Cruises and it started very cruise-friendly at 10:00 am. We could already see the Atlantis Hotel very well from our balcony, which increased our anticipation for the excursion. The hotel is one of the most expensive and luxurious hotels in the world. Among other things, there is the Michael Jackson Suite here. It costs a mere $26,000 per night. At least you get the 11th night in the suite for free. Right after we left the ship, we received bands that allowed us to enter the beach and the aquarium. We were brought to the Atlantis from the port by small buses. A friendly staff member was waiting for us here. She led us through the hotel's casino to the beach. Everyone was given a towel here and the next few hours were at our disposal. The beach was really great. Wide with white sand and turquoise warm water. Plus, there were great waves in the surf. It was really fun to frolic in the warm water. Unfortunately, time passed much too quickly. After splashing around in the water twice, we had to pack up after 3 hours. The hotel also had an aquarium called "The Dig" and a glass tunnel underwater that you could walk through. Of course, we also wanted to see this. However, since we didn't find the entrance to the aquarium right away, we got a good overview of the hotel. We especially liked the garden area, where we could observe sharks, swordfish, stingrays, turtles, starfish, countless species of fish, and several other marine animals in various ponds and rivers. The aquarium itself was modeled after the sunken city of Atlantis. According to legend, Atlantis was the most magnificent and powerful city in the world. The legend tells of a sun-drenched island full of flowers, fruits, and forests, traversed by rivers and ponds. The city was surrounded by three circular moats. Two gushing springs supplied it with cold and warm water. Atlantis was a paradise for humans and animals, which was swallowed by the water after an earthquake during a terrible day and a terrible night. Until today, researchers are looking for the sunken paradise. Here is the presentation as an aquarium. There were great coral reefs to admire and we felt like we were stranded deep in the sea. The highlight was a glass tunnel that we could walk through. Countless fish and sharks were swimming around us. An indescribable experience. Unfortunately, time passed much too quickly and we had to return to the ship. In the meantime, our Mein Schiff 6 had been joined by the Carnival Liberty and the MSC Divina. We ended the afternoon comfortably at the Außenalsterbar with a cocktail and delicious tapas.
