After the beach life, we headed inland and booked a bungalow at Khao Sok National Park. The journey was again made by minibus and took a little longer this time. Our bungalow is located directly in a small resort on the Sok River and a few minutes from the park entrance. We booked two tours for the next two days and were excited to explore the jungle. Our jungle experience started with a night safari. To our amazement, we had our private tour guide who led us into the dark park at night. In the light of our headlamps, we saw thousands of eyes around us, which turned out to be all kinds of spiders and insects. The jungle with its thousands of eyes fascinated us. To our delight, towards the end of the tour, we were able to spot a slow loris (lemur) and a mouse deer in the wild. The next morning, we went on a lake tour that was supposed to last the whole day. We were picked up in the morning and drove to the harbour where a long-tail boat was waiting for us. The boat was filled with people and off we went. We sailed for a good hour on the beautiful lake. When we arrived at the floating resort, we had lunch and then the jungle hike to the cave started. It was pouring down rain and we crossed the river several times, which was swarming with leeches. Niko liked them so much that two of them stuck to him. The day was super beautiful and will stay in our memories for a long time. Overall, we really enjoyed our time in nature. We chose our next destination based on a special tour that we wanted to do, and just two days later, our journey continued.
