8 From Lahnau to Limburg - Rain aka Bike Washing Day :P

Uñt’ayata: 07.06.2020

After 9 days of perfect cycling weather, I had my first 'rainy day' on my tour.

Since my host had to go to work early, I could get ready and have a leisurely breakfast in the apartment before venturing out into the rain.

Because there were occasional breaks in the rain and my rain gear served me well, the weather didn't bother me much.

I first went through Wetzlar and later to Weilburg, where I took a lunch break, visited the old town, the castle, and Germany's only ship tunnel, and before continuing, I had a coffee and a nice conversation with the owner of the fair trade shop :)

The bike path led more and more along the Lahn river for longer stretches, and I had a lot of fun despite or maybe because of the rain :P

At some point, when there was a heavy downpour, I took a short break at a more or less dry spot under large trees.

Shortly before my destination Limburg, I was surprised by the picturesque town of Runkel and spent some more time there taking what felt like 1000 photos :D

Limburg itself also has a great old town with many half-timbered houses, which I admired briefly while strolling through – due to the late hour. For overnight stay, I cycled a bit out of the city. Since it was already getting dark, I simply took the first sleeping spot by the river that I could find and fell into bed :)
