On these two days we gave the car a break and left it in the hotel's garage... um, well..., actually we wanted to take a break after 1 week and relax by the pool. 'A little' turned into 'the whole day until 5:00 pm'. So, there isn't much to report from Las Vegas and we are also not poker millionaires... the pool area was very nice and chill, not crowded, surrounded by palm trees, few hotel buildings (except our own of course), pleasant music playing and a poolside bar. The prices initially scared us off: a cocktail was almost $25. But they were huge cups that also passed as souvenirs. So, I tried a 'Cucumber Breeze' with Hendricks Gin. What can I say... it was really delicious and strong!!! So, I had a total of 2 more cocktails. Unfortunately, we were not allowed to bring our cooler box to the pool. So far, it has proven to be a fantastic investment. Thanks to a tip, filling zip bags with ice cubes from the hotel ice machines, we always have cool drinks with us.
It was quite funny to see the gamblers at the slot machines and roulette tables, but we didn't try it ourselves. Instead, we ate at Denny's one evening (they really have delicious burgers... we both agree on that, and those who know Stefan's burgers know that he knows what he's talking about and can judge it) and at the all-you-can-eat restaurant in our hotel on another evening. On both evenings, we walked along the Strip, but we didn't have enough time to do everything. You just let yourself be carried from hotel to hotel by the crowds of people, sometimes outside, sometimes inside... After we had conquered some hotels, we fell into bed totally exhausted. We didn't have such extreme days before Las Vegas. So, seeing Las Vegas live was a cool experience, but now we are looking forward to the upcoming days in the national parks.
