Powescourt is located in County Wicklow, a bit outside of Dublin. It is a mansion with a huge garden. The mansion itself is not a museum, there are a few small designer shops and a dollhouse museum, which was pretty cool. Actually, I was the only one who found it cool, the others found it rather spooky. The main exhibit is the Tara House, which is a replica of the original dollhouse that was built to raise donations for children. However, even the replica is handmade and very detailed. There are also other cool dollhouses, one is made entirely of shells, another one of buttons. There was also an exact replica of a room from Malahide Castle. One dollhouse comes from an old lady who had the largest dollhouse collection in the world. As we were told, her marriage was bad, you can see what happens when the marriage is bad.
The gardens were beautiful, but not really my thing. There is also a pet cemetery, but I'm not sure if it's real. Some of the animals died at the beginning of the 20th century, I didn't think people had pets back then that they cared about. Some of them had strange things written on their tombstones.
We actually planned to visit the waterfalls as well, but we ran out of time in the end.
