New Friends - Kuala Lumpur

The first 3 things that come to mind about Kuala Lumpur (which means 'muddy river confluence') are friendly people, contrasts everywhere you look, and extremely high humidity. Even the first steps with my 15 kg backpack and the backpack in front of my chest were more than sweat-inducing. The walk from the subway station to the hostel (about 700 m) made my whole outfit drenched from top to bottom; very pleasant... Fortunately, I was able to share my suffering, as I had already met Nele at the gate in Frankfurt, who was conveniently staying at the same hostel. Checking in, taking a cold shower, and mingling with the locals was our motto. Little China with all its traders, who were not pushy at all, immediately put us in a good mood, and after strengthening ourselves with lemon chicken with rice and spring rolls for about 3 euros, we set off for the Twin Towers.

The next day, we headed towards Batu Caves. 275 steps into a huge cave temple, but the most exciting part was the bus ride with the public bus, which simply dropped us off under a highway bridge, as there was no bus stop!

I quickly had the feeling that there wasn't much to see in Kuala Lumpur, so I decided to take the night bus to Singapore the next evening. 36 hours of power sightseeing before I had to go back to the airport in KL to catch my next flight. Destination: Melbourne, Australia.
