The return journey
After the Pampas Tour, Kiran, Velina and I spontaneously decided to continue our journey from the beautiful town of Rurrenabaque towards home on the same evening.
We drove for 15 hours overnight to La Paz. From there, we took the next night bus to Santa Cruz around noon. Just 19 hours later, we arrived. At first, we considered staying here for another night, but we all wanted to go home and then we got another night bus for tonight. We spent the waiting time in the city. We walked through a huge clothing market.
Our bus left at seven, a 24-hour journey to Asuncion. At the border, each piece of luggage was sniffed by a very motivated drug dog and searched by a slightly less motivated officer.
Then we had to go to the immigration office, which was still dark and the control officers sat in the dark with flashlights.
After that, there were several more police checks and many hours through the uniformly looking Chaco. Towards the end, we all had enough of the endless bus rides and were very glad to arrive.
Overall, we had a very nice, interesting and sometimes exhausting time. đžâđ
