Margaret River and Rottnest Island

From Wave Rock, we headed back to the south coast to Margaret River, a wine region where we hope to find a fruit picking job. We will spend about a week there on cozy shady campsites not far from the sea and apply for various jobs. After a few days, we received two responses for a job picking grapes and for a farm job in the Northern Territory 3,000 km away from us. After a 30-minute conversation with the farm owner, we decided to go for the farm job. Within two weeks, we want to cover the 3,000 km to the next and fourth state of Australia. Before that, we will travel to all our destinations on the west coast. A tight schedule, as there are still 7 destinations that are several kilometers apart. The next day, we drove to the suburb of Perth called Fremantle to prepare ourselves clothing-wise for the farm job and spontaneously decided to start March on another island, namely Rottnest Island, our next destination. The ferry leaves at 9:45 a.m. and only takes 35 minutes to reach the island 11 km away. A welcome change, as we have been moving around in the van every day so far 😊 The island was named 'Rottnest Island', translated as 'Rat's Nest', because someone mistook the cute little quokkas for rats. However, they are marsupials and are even related to kangaroos. We saved the money for bicycles and explored the island on foot. We made the 10,000 steps (the daily requirement of the Health App, my phone means well 😄)! We saw 3 cute quokkas. They are very trusting, especially when you hold a banana peel in your hand, just like us, and indeed they hop around just like kangaroos to get around. There's also a selfie 😊A very successful trip!
