After checking out of the hotel in the morning and storing our luggage, we took the subway to Tian'anmen Square in pouring rain. We learned about the history of the square and then set out to visit the Forbidden City.
We were by no means the only ones who wanted to do that, and so there was a huge crowd at the entrance. You had to be careful not to get your eye poked out with an umbrella. But fortunately, it stopped raining when we entered the city.
The history behind the city is very fascinating. But it's simply not possible to really take a look at something in peace. There are just too many people. You were pushed from one object to another in the flow.
Our guide managed to isolate us sometimes, but there were also not the main attractions.
The many people took a toll on the mood, so no one minded leaving the Forbidden City after 2 hours and taking the subway back to the hotel to make the final preparations for the upcoming train ride.
