Song: Steve Acho - Let it be (acoustic)
So my dear ones, here I am again. Solo traveling is starting to leave its marks: it's not always all rainbows and unicorns. Just like in life itself, there are ups and downs. The first down came on 31.01. Somehow, it wasn't my day - it could of course also be because I didn't experience or see much that day. But as Laura wrote to me: 'After every rain comes sunshine.' The up came just yesterday: my first surf lesson at Clifton Beach. :-)
The surf lesson was amazing - it was the three of us girls and our surf instructor, Dan. He had an easy time with us. Each of us managed to stand on the board, at least for a short time. What a sense of accomplishment - as many endorphins were released during that time, my muscle soreness in my stomach and arms today is just as strong :-D
I spent the night at a camping site at White Beach. Last night, I sat on the beach and actually saw a dolphin. At first, I thought the other people were joking when they kept shouting that they saw a dolphin. Because when I looked, there was nothing to be seen anywhere. But eventually, luck was on my side and I saw at least the tail fin of the dolphin - it might have also been a shark. Who knows for sure? :-D
This morning, I drove to Port Arthur to visit the old penal settlement. The guide won me over right away when one of his first sentences was that we should watch where we step because there was currently 'snake activity' - oh wonderful. Luckily, I didn't see a single snake during the whole tour.
Afterwards, I went to the 'remarkable Caves' lookout point. At first, it seemed like a normal lookout point. But I was wondering how all the surfers down at the bay got there. So I followed a small sign. A narrow path and a few steps further down, I stood in front of a cave entrance and beyond it was obviously the bay. Unfortunately, the descent was not planned - at least I didn't think so. A group of teenagers showed me how - and I followed suit. We climbed down and I was able to walk through the cave to the bay. I would have been so annoyed if I had missed that.
P.S: Somehow, I'm having trouble uploading panorama pictures at the moment. :-( It can only be done in poor quality.
Kiss, M.
