Koh Chang - (penultimate) update from paradise.

A boat trip that is fun, a boat trip that is beautiful... 🎶 🚣

And because that's the case and we can never get enough of boating, we did it again!!

When?- sometime in the next few days.

(The day before yesterday?

Girls!? 🤔)

With whom?- Lisa, Lena & Johanna

Temperature?- around 35 degrees Celsius

Water?- bathtub

Was it good?- Well, not really.

Quack. Of course, it was one of the best days here.

Not because we saw more fish than the last time. (because we didn't)

Not because the boat was nicer. (even though it was)

And it wasn't because the sun shone brighter that day. (the weather gods were on our side for both trips)

The reason was the atmosphere on the boat.

...That our duo was finally complete with the four of us. 😀

...We had more space on our watercraft.

...There was music playing (although often quite bad...)

We were out and about from morning till late.

...and being able to watch a sunset in the middle of the ocean is not something you get every day!

(Also, there were no magical mermaids. - Rarity level 9000)

We were pretty excited by the end of the day and didn't get to bed until 4 o'clock.

You can imagine when we woke up the next morning.

'Morning' is a very flexible term here :D

So.

When we finally left and Lisa and I rode behind Johanna on our stupid new scooter to a 'secret' beach, the day was practically over.

The beach was relatively empty.

But the water was not great.

(we have become quite spoiled) 😇

Oh yeah. And the stupid scooter was brand new and looked pretty cool... But as a Japanese saying goes:

Good on the outside, bad on the inside.

And that's how it was.

The color was really cool.

The steering was a dream.

But:

It just didn't have enough power for two people.

The top speed was about 40 kilometers per hour.

Oh no!

I'll skip ahead:

Beach... 🔜

Beach bar 🔜

Food🔜

Bungalow 🔜

More food 🔜

More bungalow 🔜

Sleep 🔚

Aahh.

Actually, that's not true.

In between, we were in a bar that is quite well-known here and where we booked the excursion.

We met Daria there.

I haven't mentioned her by name yet, I just realized... Probably because she mostly did good things for her karma while the rest of us were quite busy doing nothing... ;)

She volunteered at the local animal shelter and took care of the puppies.

I thought that was good.

Daria, I hope you enjoyed yourself in Bangkok and are fresh and ready for Germany.

Bring a piece of the sun with you!

We'll take care of the rest...

See you in Berlin!! 👋

-------------------------------------

This morning we got up early for a change.

After exchanging my unwanted scooter for another one, we set off to White Sand Beach around half past nine.

It's about 25 minutes away from us and not really that beautiful.

But the ladies wanted to go shopping.

And I love sitting on the scooter. (I think you've probably figured that out by now, right?) ;)

The destination is secondary in this case.

After about half an hour, I was already tired and found myself sitting alone in the midday sun by the sea while Lisa and Johanna wasted their money. 😊

We were done with that by just before 1 o'clock.

We had to leave.

Appointments. Appointments. 😏

And since a picture is worth a thousand words, here's at least one... Or two... Or three...

The real reason why I prefer photos over text is, of course, a different one.

It's almost 11 o'clock at night and I'm really tired right now.

I'm going to close my eyes and therefore the blog.

Only temporarily.

And tomorrow morning I'll think again about whether I want to force you reading-averse people a bit more... 😊

💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤

Next day.

Doesn't matter what the calendar says.

The important thing is that it's the penultimate day before we go back to BKK.

Oh God.

I still can't believe it, man...😯

Change of topic.

🔛

Where did we leave off yesterday? !

Oh yes.

Tattoo.

Right.

Lisa and I brought back a (pretty permanent) souvenir from Thailand a year ago.

'Brought back a souvenir'!? 🤔

Uh.

Okay...

And this year we couldn't resist the idea either.

But this time it should be something more original.

Traditional.

Typical of the country.

No machine.

But BAMBOO.

Just this much:

I don't usually consider myself a wimp, but: Ouch!! 😅

This is Lisa, by the way, trying to distract me from the pain... It worked... Somehow... Because her foot massage hurt even more than the bamboo thing!

... I guess you'd call it pain shifting....

Well. If you want to get a tattoo, you have to suffer.

You already learn that in kindergarten... or something...

---------------------------------

We were pretty tired in the evening.

At least I was.

You read when I went to bed... ;)

This morning we got back on the scooters and the three of us went to Long Beach again, where we've been chilling, chatting, swimming, taking selfies and other pictures.

I love this place. 💙🌴🌊

Just getting here is an experience.

You can drive for many meters and kilometers without encountering anyone on the road, and if you do, it's very rare... I'm amazed by nature...

The palm trees... Tropical plants... green hills... The sounds of birds and other animals... Occasionally a monkey sitting by the side of the road... Dogs taking their midday nap on the road, completely unfazed by the traffic around them...

And the many smells that accompany us... All different, but (almost) always nice...

...because the journey here is relatively long and buses and taxis don't drive here due to the road conditions, this is (by far) the best beach... Because there's hardly anyone here.

The water is very clear.

And now I'm comfortably lying in my hammock, which I hung between two branches, and writing the new blog entry.

There's nowhere else I'd rather be right now!!

In between, a dog came by who seemed really scared by his body language.

Although I think his hunger was greater than his instinct.

He cautiously approached closer and closer.

I fed him some cake (Yeah, I know... But for once we didn't have any dog food in our backpack) and gave him water.

In the end, he still didn't come closer and always kept a meter's distance between us. But he looked for a shady spot within reach and was probably hoping for more.

Well... And what can I say...

You extend the little cutie your little finger and it snatches the cereal bar and runs off...

We haven't seen Monsieur since then.

At 4 o'clock, we got back on the scooters.

Because you've learned that I don't drive in the dark...

And the sun is quick when it comes to setting... 😄

At one point, we took a short break - and unexpectedly, these two hopped over...

Otherwise... Yeah... It's nearly 10:30 in the evening now.

Johanna is sitting next to me, sipping her island farewell beer...

Because Lena and Bangkok are calling her tomorrow already. :(

It was nice meeting you, girls!

You know, you always see each other twice in life!

(Not a promise >>>It's a threat!!)

I love this island. I can't say it enough.

We never planned to stay this long.

But now it has actually become the longest stop on my entire trip.

(6) Ladyboys at work.

(we live somewhere around here)

(Living life on the edge) 🚬

(Taxi lighting!)

Oh.

And in case there are people wondering why there are almost exclusively selfies of me...

THIS is the reason:

TO BE CONTINUED...
