Hiking in the Colca Canyon

It happened, I went hiking. The Colca Canyon is located 97 km away from Arequipa.

I chose a 3 days, 2 nights tour. I was picked up from my hostel at 3:15 am. We picked up other hikers and then started. On the way to our starting point, we were at an altitude of 4623 meters. It was quite cold and we all struggled a bit with the altitude.

After breakfast, we started hiking. The first two days were mostly downhill. But that was also exhausting. We slept in small villages in the canyon. The accommodations were simple, without electricity and fancy amenities, but very cozy. The food was great too.

Conclusion: Hiking is great. Sometimes it's very challenging, but in the end, you're rewarded with many amazing experiences.
