Day 5: Dagebüll - Amrum (10.5 km)

প্ৰকাশিত: 20.06.2023

Got up early to take the ferry to the island of Amrum. The crossing takes about two hours, and luckily the weather is good again. 🌞

For today, we have chosen a more relaxed day. First, a short walk through the town of Wittdün, buying water and bread, and then taking the bus to the dunes and the nudist beach.

A long boardwalk (which keeps visitors away from the sensitive dunes) leads through the dunes, which are a nature reserve, to the beach. And once again, accompanied by the scent of wild roses, it's delightful. It's like carrying a perfume salon with you... Just enjoy this unique nature - with pheasants! 🦃

And then we reach the wide, almost white beach, spread out the Süddeutsche Zeitung under our bottoms, and enjoy the view over the sea. There are hardly any people here, unlike the previously visited islands. It doesn't take long before we take a refreshing swim in the North Sea - nice and cool, no jellyfish, just a bit of algae at the entrance.

We must not miss the last ferry back, so we make our way to the boardwalk (prehistoric moor path) through a short forest section to the bus stop. Tickets can be purchased right at the entrance here.

We return to Dagebüll via the island of Föhr, still enjoying the sunshine. Tonight, we'll eat somewhere else and then head back to the motel.

Got up early to take the ferry to Amrun

The crossing takes 2 hours and the weather is still on our side! ☀️👍

For today, we have chosen something more relaxing. First, we walk around the town of Wiitdün to buy water and bread, and then take the bus to the dunes and the nudist beach.

A long boardwalk (a very long pier) that protects nature from people leads us to the beach, accompanied by the scent of wild roses and the sight of a proud pheasant! What a beautiful walk!

Then, when we arrive at the almost white sand, we take off our clothes, spread out the Süddeutsche newspaper, and enjoy the view over the vast sea!

There are few people here (unlike the other islands) and soon we head to the refreshing water of the North Sea. No jellyfish, just a little bit of algae that forms the only obstacle to a super refreshing and delightful swim!

Because we need to be on time for the bus and ferry, we soon head back to the boardwalk (which used to be used to cross the marshes, for example)

Through the forest to the bus stop, where a local homeless person and a nest of swallows have temporarily taken up residence.

We take the bus back to Wiitdün, then the ferry back to Dagebüll via the island of Föhr.

In Dagebüll, we eat somewhere else this time and return to the motel to pack up.
