Dear readers of my crazy travel adventure,
Today our journey took us to the streets of London early in the morning, where we drove along the ring road and conquered the motorway towards Chester.
I was more excited to see Chester's famous Tudor-style half-timbered houses that are older than my grandfather (well, almost).
Our charming guide Robert sparked our wanderlust when he pulled out the microphone and belted out "Dirty Old Town" just before Birmingham, the curry capital of England. Unfortunately, the city recently experienced a financial downturn, but that didn't stop us from enjoying our trip to the fullest.
After an urgently needed toilet stop, a tricky âTest your Englishâ was on the agenda. Do you know how politely you respond to an offer of beer? The denouement follows, but be warned: incorrect answers almost resulted in a canceled trip and an outright expulsion by the border authorities.
"Test your English!" - For example:
They are offered a glass of beer. They refuse it with the words: A) No please. B) Thank you. C) No, thank you.
Please reply in the comment column. Resolution will follow tomorrow.
Our first stop was picturesque Chester, with half-timbered houses as far as the eye could see and pubs that would have impressed even the bravest Knights of the Round Table. And then, a chorus of "You'll Never Walk Alone" rang out on the bus - clearly headed for the Liverpool FC Stadium.
Afterwards we went in search of traces of the Beatles with a leisurely walk through the port of Liverpool.
We are now staying at the Holiday Inn in Haydock, where our thirst for adventure starts the next stage rested and strengthened. Stay tuned for more curiosities and travel experiences.
Until the next entry
