72. Lefkada -> Lefkas

72. Tag: As the waste disposal emptied the bins at the parking space at 4 o'clock this morning, the night was over for me. On the 1st photo you can see how many bins there are, you can imagine how long it took. At this point, it should be mentioned that the provision of rubbish bins in Greece is exemplary. However, the use of them is often not.

But the early awakening had the advantage that I was already outside long before sunrise and could observe the sunrise in peace. The sea was very calm today. This allowed the strong wind to drive a fireworks display of waves crisscrossing the surface. What a beautiful spectacle! And what a farewell! This place is so beautiful that it almost brings tears to your eyes 😢

Subsequently, we drive along the east coast again to the capital city of Lefkas in the north of the island. As it was cloudy all day, many things along the way seemed a bit dull. Regardless, this side of the island is much more densely populated, much more touristy and at the same time nowhere near as spectacular as the west side. But still quite beautiful overall. Here are our stops:

• Strolling along the promenade of Vassiliki at the southern tip of the island
  
• Breakfast at the Bakery Cafe in Sivota followed by a visit to 2 yachts in the harbor
• Taking a dip at Mikros Gialos Beach
• Walk to the waterfalls of Nidri followed by ice cream at the tavern under the plane trees
• Dinner and overnight stay at the small camping site Kariotes Beach near Lefkas
